This is a video of a street spray painter. I think this is really amazing because he uses everyday objects like yogurt caps and tape to make the shapes that the paint forms in and it does not look like he is making anything impressive but at the end it all comes together and looks incredible. When I was in New York City this summer I saw a street painter who used these same techniques and I have one of his paintings in my room at home now.

Speed Painting of a Jacaranda Tree

After Gagnon painted a beautiful cloud, I didn't know what to think when he (the painter Tim Gagnon) went on to cover it up almost entirely by the tree in the foreground! In the end, it's a good lesson on being willing to let go of some aspects of a piece for others, as will as a visual lecture on the effectiveness of using different brushwork for texture.

Painting a Simple Watercolor Landscape

This video, although using very basic techniques, ends up looking surprisingly nice for it's simplicity!

I like this mural because it's abstract and simple at the same time. It has some surrealist attributes and the colors go along well.

Influential People Mural Idea

I think that we should do something a little graphic. I also think that we should incorporate something that represents our time now, 2015 ish. People probably wont paint over this mural for a long time, so we should do something that marks our time here.
My idea is to create a grid on each wall. In each square of the grid, we should paint pop art-like portraits of influential people from our time, writers, musicians, politicians, ect... We can make stencils of those people in class and then paint them up on the wall, which shouldn't take long because the stencils will already be done. It will be a really graphic looking hallway that marks our time at Weston High and will also be entertaining for kids who don't take art.
This kind of thing, replicated a hundred times, just not Marylyn. It would be of people such as Beyonce, Obama, Nelson Mandela, Annie Leibovitz, Oprah, Ellen, Michael Jackson, Mr. Parker, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie ect...

The first art picture is really cool to me because it looks weird. I think that how the bricks are lining up and how they shape when they get to the top looks nice.

I really also like the second picture because the eyes are kind of scary to me and it looks cool. I also like how their are many different colors in this art wall mural.

Mural Ideas

I like this because it is simple and ill be easy for everyone to do and it is not to distracting but looks clean and nice. We could also do a bunch of different shades of a color.

I like this idea of making the mural an optical illusion. We could simplify the idea and make it not as detailed but I think a lot of people would find it very cool interest if we could execute it pretty well.

Something like this might be too difficult for everyone to be involved in but I like the idea of doing something underwater and almost like you are walking on the bottom of the ocean.
it has a literary reference so it makes sense in school

i think it would look really cool if this was in the hallway

I think that these two could be interesting, because the hallway we are working on gets
very little natural light, so using these sunset colors could be really beautiful. It wouldn't be too bright, and the dark tones of the trees could be fun to play with.
