Although I was not able to attend the field trip, looking through the website, I was able to find piece that have inspired me. I want to explore more with nature. In the “Sizing It Up”, a few pieces stood out to me. I want to play more with shape and the size in my work.

I like these two pictures. They are simple yet have an impact. In the whale picture, I like the size and how the background allows for the whale to stand out even more. For the surfers, how the wave is closing in and the calmness of the surfers.

For my next project, I will work on sizing and making sure I don’t over think my work and allow myself to just go for it.

Based on PEM exhibitions, what new materials and techniques would you like to explore?

I think I would really enjoy trying to work with sculpture, as in the past I have only really worked with 2d surfaces and medium. I think it would be a great way to grow and put my vision into a more interactive form, exact type of medium I am unsure.

What steps will you take in creating a series of new work? What artists or themes will you like to explore. Please site themes and artist for the exhibitions.

I tend to drift towards just learning and figuring things out as I go, especially with artwork, I never quite know exactly how something is going to come out until I do it and that's something that's exciting for me. I would liek to explore photography as a medium more as its so interesting to be able to make art of the things that we are surrounded by and the things that occur naturally and manipulating them in some way. (It was difficult to find specific information on the artists but here are some specific photos I found interesting)

I really like this video because its different, and something I’ve never seen done before. It is a mixture of a few kinds of art, and it is both interactive and fascinating to look at. While it is very complex and intricate, it is almost very simple because it only has 1 material.

Based on the PEM exhibit, I would like to further explore with using unrealistic sizes and ratios to objects and things along those lines. In the “Sizing it up: Scale in Nature and Art” category of the exhibit, I found the art to be very engaging and interesting because it was so abnormal and abstract.

An artist and theme that has always stuck out to me was Frida Kahlo. I have known about her and her artwork since I was young and traveled around Mexico and have always been fascinated with the way she painted. Her paintings are all very deep and intensely meaningful. They are extremely abstract and unusual but once you understand the emotion she was trying to express, it all makes perfect sense. They are often sad and have a lot of pain in them, which also draws me in and makes me want to know more about Frida as a person as well as an artist. Her theme is her and her emotions in a portrait. For me, this would be very cool to experiment with but also very challenging.

This video inspires me because it talks about her pain, and how it made her stronger and rise above her difficulties in life. This makes me think she is a very inspirational artist. What draws me in about her portraits are that her face is usually consistent and similar but what’s surrounding her is always the interesting part. What is happening to her or what she’s doing is what expresses her emotion.

I like this drawing because it has a very whimsical feel to it. It reminds me of when I was a kid and had a huge imagination. I like how the flowers are ginormous because it could possibly have an underlying concept of the pollution in our planet right now and how we desperately need to take care of our earth and plants. The flowers are big to show the importance of this issue. It appeals to children most likely which is exactly who needs to be targeted so the next generation will be saved. I like how there are multiple kinds of flowers for diversity and how they are crammed in a room representing the small world.

What I like about the meseum over all is that it was such a wonderful place with such a relaxing and warm energy. As soon as I walked in I forgot about all the stress and pain that I have been dealing with, it took me into a new fantasy world, I enjoyed every moment of it!! I really want to take this time to thank you Mrs Hom for organizing this trip.

This museum also contains all my favorite items as well, I am so drawn to old asian furniture and I saw some jewelrys box/ draw that was so beautiful I am sending a picture of it to have my indian carpenter who can possibly make a similar one to my quench my thirst and longing for it.

I am also really drawn to the native american culture and its fashions. I forgot about all of you and got separated from all of you when I saw the native american fashion room. That was a heaven for me, my pacifier and there are two particular dress that was so creatively and beautifully made and I was sitting there imagining myself wearing them and there was old man that made my day by saying “you would look great in them”.

I also really love the japanese section where it had a room with all the Japanese porcelains theme and I was going in a circle and for second I swear i thought i was dreaming, it was just unreal and it really took all my negative energy away and made me realize to live in the moment and as I had to move on I also learn that I nothing is permanent and I should move on with that beautiful experience I just had and use when I need them.

I can go on forever about this but I really want to thank you again and highly recommend other people to pay a visit there because there are so much to learn and it truly is a fantasy world that can help many people feel beauty in the world and make them realize that world is not just the pain and stress but there is so much beauty in it too.
