What I like about the meseum over all is that it was such a wonderful place with such a relaxing and warm energy.  As soon as I walked in I forgot about all the stress and pain that I have been dealing with, it took me into a new fantasy world, I enjoyed every moment of it!! I really want to take this time to thank you Mrs Hom for organizing this trip.

This museum also contains all my favorite items as well, I am so drawn to old asian furniture and I saw some jewelrys box/ draw that was so beautiful I am sending a picture of it to have my indian carpenter who can possibly make a similar one to my quench my thirst and longing for it.

I am also really drawn to the native american culture and its fashions. I forgot about all of you and got separated from all of you when I saw the native american fashion room. That was a heaven for me, my pacifier and there are two particular dress that was so creatively and  beautifully made and I was sitting there imagining myself wearing them and there was old man that made my day by saying “you would look great in them”.

I also really love the japanese section where it had a room with all the Japanese porcelains theme and I was going in a circle and for second I swear i thought i was dreaming, it was just unreal and it really took all my negative energy away and made me realize to live in the moment and as I had to move on I also learn that I nothing is permanent and I should move on with that beautiful experience I just had and use when I need them.

I can go on forever about this but I really want to thank you again and highly recommend other people to pay a visit there  because there are so much to learn and it truly is a fantasy world that can help many people feel beauty in the world and make them realize that world is not just the pain and stress but there is so much beauty in it too.

I found this really cool video. I would really like to do something like this, because the way the paint moves is so cool. And the finished product is just as cool.

I thought this was a really cool and different. Its a cool form of art that is not based on the finished product but very interesting to be seen being made. There are cool optical illusions in it.

Peabody Essex museum Reflection

These were some of my favorite pieces that I saw at the museum. The first one is a really realistic painting of surfers on a wave. I just really like how real it looks and I like the colors that they used in the wave. I like how small the people look but each one of them tells a story. The second piece is a picture of a man scuba diving with manatees. I'm not sure if it is a real picture or if its photoshopped so that the manatee is really close to the man. Either way I think its a really interesting picture that shows scale in a super cool way.

This video is of a realistic drawing and the process. This video shows the importance of starting with simple shapes and the effect of light and very little detail to make a realistic piece. The drawing over all is simple and has a surreal effect but also very well done

Peabody Essex Museum 
These two pieces of Art are from the PEM field trip and the first piece inspired me because it was manipulating a unexpected material into art, the piece also was following the theme of changing the relative size and proportion of the house into a small rock. The piece also managed to have a lot of detail. The other piece (on the right) uses colors very interestingly. I really am inspired to play with colors more and materials. The painting has a surrealistic effect and also has emotional impact that gives off a sense of intensity.

Both of these time lapse videos inspire me to create a similar piece. I want to follow these paths and create a sculpture of some sort. Hopefully I can use the beeswax paint to create something cool. Im thinking of a 3d face coming out of a painting.

Dominos

I found this video very interesting and different because of the time that must have gone into it. Art comes in many different forms and dominos is one that is very rare. This very intricate painting is hard to replicate, but I think the artist of the dominos did a very good job.

Trash can also be transformed into art. From far away I would could not tell all the small objects within the painting. Each piece of trash was placed with purpose and thought which makes it unique.

Peabody Essex Museum Field Trip Reflection

This Wednesday we took a field trip to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. I really enjoyed the museum, from the mixed media art to the beests to the native fashion show, these are a few of my favorite pieces.

This was a small birds-eye view mixed media piece. I really liked the piece because it lit up the parts of the landscape that was part of a city, as well as the highways and roads. I also liked the greens and the blues of this piece, they didn't necessarily look like real-life colors, but all the colors came together really nicely, I wonder if the artist was inspired from a helicopter view where everything looks almost fake. Finally, I liked this piece because I made a similar piece last year. I drew the streets of a city out on a black cardboard paper and had tiny origami cranes flying overhead. I think I related to this piece a lot because I made a similar piece last year.

I liked this painting mostly because of the colors in the piece, the colors were dull but they came together quite nicely, and provided a very realistic image. I also loved the work that the artist put into the clouds, there are different types of clouds in the painting and the perspective work on them looks very realistic, and they help set the tone and mood of the entire piece. Finally, I loved the way that the horizon was blurred out, as if the cloudy/ foggy day was continued as far as the eye could see. I wonder if the artist painted from a real landscape or if his mood altered the tone of the painting, it feels like a mix of both.

PEM Experience

The Peabody Essex Museum is often full of inspired, experimental artwork, that link tradition and innovation. Today, I found this to be particularly the case. The piece like the one directly below, called "Toothpicks" is both beautiful and socially significant. The foreground is composed of 100 million toothpicks, each representing the 100 million trees that get felled each year to become junk mail. The use of art as medium for social and environmental awareness struck me as tremendously significant. Furthermore, I'd hope to apply such themes as the motors of my own work. 

 This "outfit" from the Native American Fashion exhibit struck me as so outlandishly beautiful. The detail of the black dress is subdued by its monochrome nature, fortunately giving way to a greater appreciation for the head piece. An interpretation of the feather boa, this sleek tubing somehow comes across as a natural part of the composition, even exuding subtlety, mystery, and modesty. The piece made me consider how certain pieces may be less overbearing than they appear- thus, I feel a little more ready to take chances and be bold with my experimentation!

The reason I chose the first video of the leopard was because I find digital art really interesting. It allows for much more freedom to make mistakes and allows for trial and error of different techniques. I chose the watercolor speed painting because I like how in a way, it's messy and free flowing instead for really neat and put together. Once the artist starts paintings, the natural flow of the paint is just beautiful to watch.

This is a video similar to what art 3 is doing in class right now. This is a video of an eraser drawing with charcoal. The man is drawing a rose out of the blackness, using only his eraser and white highlights, like we are doing in class.
