Caroline's artshare post

Hi mrs hom! this is for my art share posts!

I thought this video was really interesting because it shows this artists skills of drawing animals which is something I love. the paint strokes are insane it looks so much like real fur. The eye is also does with so many details.

This is something similar but also different because its of a person which at some point i would love to paint. The eyesore are also so so amazing.

This is my most recent artwork. I've been working hard on my RISD application. I've been editing a lot of my old work hoping to impress the admissions team

Jeff's artshare post- Senior mural 2017

Here's my suggestion about the background: a combination of these two images. Because the birds in the painting are moving (although this is a instantaneous image) from left bottom to right top, a diagonal leading line in background will make a better effect of movement. Meanwhile, each bird is in high contrast, which indicates that the light should basically come from one direction. Considering the aesthetic conclusion, a sunset in background will be a good choice.

Best,
Jeff

Senior Mural background Idea

The background could be a blue sky like this with some more colors. The clouds could appear more blurry and simple to not take any focus off of the origami cranes.

Free event at Brandeis University

I'm Eddy from the Brandeis University Education for Students by Students Club, and we are hosting a one-day event called Splash where high school students can come take classes taught by Brandeis Undergraduates in a variety of courses. This year we are offering classes about Jewelry-making, traditional music, Japanese paper Origami folding, etc. I was hoping that you may be able to reach out to your Arts students regarding this event on November 12th, 2016. This will also be a good opportunity for the students to do a college visit if they have any interest in applying in the near future. Thanks for your time and feel free to email me back with questions.

Best wishes,
ESS Senior Advisor
Eddy Zheng

P.S. I've attached our website information and full course catalog below.

Nick's post regarding legacy mural background

This could be the background because it is a really cool mountain and shows a road going off into the distance to represent the heights they are going to go to (Mountains) and the road that takes them off into the distance and on with their lives.

Natalie's post

The trip to land sake farm on Friday was for sure a field trip all art classes should take in the future. The run there allowed me to clear my mind, and made me more focused when drawing. There were so many different approaches one could take on this trip. For me, I set myself near the chicken coop, where I drew close ups, and full views of what I saw at the chicken coop. If you were not going to take this route, there were field of flowers, produce, and large, branchy trees. In addition, there were wheel barrels and swings that I know people liked to draw and take pictures of. Nevertheless, it was an amazing, transcendentalist experience, that opened the doors to more nature and art.

Senior Mural Background

I think because the birds are so colorful and there are so many of them, a busy background would distract the piece or make it messy. Instead I think we should do an ombré sunset type thing

Please post background options. Use photo references to blog backgrounds. Sunset, sunrise, farm background, etc.?

Field Trip Reflection

For the Land Sake Farm Field trip, I thought the whole experience was transcendental. The jog in the morning was kinda burning my legs and hands because the wind was so cold but it was so beautiful out and it was so nice to not be in school and be running instead. When we got there, having been so much faster then everyone else, Natalie Casey and I just sat in a tree. By the time everyone got there, we grabbed our paper and pencils and I went over to draw a wheel barrel. I found it interesting to just be using a pencil to draw something, although I have done multiple portraits, none of them were still life or not off of a photo. In a way, I found the pencil restricting but I continued to play with the sketch until I could really pull the piece together. The trees and leaves and grass and sun were all so beautiful but I wanted to use color, the pencil seemed like it took so much away from the beauty so I avoided drawing objects of color.

Land Sake Farm Pictures

Idea for senior mural background: The background could be a landscape with a fall theme(red/orange/gold trees, blue sky)

The field trip that changed my life

The sun rose and the moment I had been waiting for had finally arrived.  We strapped up, and led by our leader Mrs. Hom we began our run to Landsakes.  I took some fresh pictures which I will surely develop into some sub par artwork.

Although my last idea for the art mural (involving UP) was unfortunately not chosen I have some firm suggestions for the actual senior mural.  The person releasing the bird could release them from the High School roof.
