Watercolor Portraits

I love to see how people paint watercolor portraits because they have to use such a light hand yet the best water color painters can do extremely realistic drawings with a little patience and layering.

Tenzin's post

When I young I watched them do this for hours its so cool and always wanted to do something like this.

Peyton's Art Share 2

This is really cool. I never would have thought they would start from the top, but I guess it makes sense.

Peyton's Art Share

I thought it was cool how they showed the process, especially the vanishing point that they laid out with the tape. Also, you can see how they created shadows and made it look 3-D by layering the colors.

Sophie Simon Weinfield's (Great-grandmother) Artwork: The Blue Flowers

Again, the shapes and positions of the flowers in this piece remind me of the gesture drawing that we have done in class.  My great-grandmother created value blends in the flower petals, the leaves, and the basket.

Sophie Simon Weinfield's (Great-grandmother) Artwork: The Pink Flowers

This piece is an example of gesture drawing, but in another medium.  The background shadows remind me of the value blending that we have been doing in class.
