1. The event will be on Saturday June 1
and is called the Weston 300 Wet Paint Auction. Works will be created
that day (rain day is Sunday) and sold in a silent auction in a tent
near the concert
and barbecue and other events scheduled that day on the WHS grounds
(lots going on).
2. Artists will meet on the Town Green at 7:30 for
breakfast: coffee and bagels and sign-in. Boxed lunches will also be given to the participants.
Locations around town will be selected and artists will disperse to spend time
painting. 'Marshalls' from the 300th committee will be going
around to check on painters during the day, give bathroom breaks and so
forth. Photograhers/media may come around to take some photos as well.
3. At about 3:00 artists will bring works to a
dropoff point at WHS and we'll take it and set up a display/gallery.
4. Around 4:00 the work will all be judged for cash
awards. Artists will (still working out the details) likely also get some kind of
discount coupon from Florentine Frames for participating.
5. After judging, we'll begin the
silent auction. For works sold, the artist and Weston 300 will
each get 50% of the price, and buyers will be incentivized by another
offer from Florentine for discounted framing.
6. Unsold works will be moved in the evening to the
Tavern Barn, where they will be displayed again on Sunday (WACA
will be holding our Spring Show that same weekend). This is another
opportunity for the works to sell.
