February Vacation art events

Peabody Essex Museum

Hart Rippe

If your in town, these events are worthwhile to attend.  I went to the PEM and saw the Shapeshifting exhibition. This exhibit really opened my eyes about how important culture and tradition are to the Native Americans.  I was in awe at how they were able to adapt to Western culture but still not lose their cultural identity. In a way, they learned how to blend both tradition and contemporary approaches of their art and culture.  Quite a spectacle !

Decordova Museum

The DeCordova Museum holds its Biennial as a showcase for 23 selected regional artists.   If you are curious about more contemporary approaches to art making, this is the place to visit.  I was most captivated by the South End Knitters.
