Wax Painting

This really cool mixed media combines wax and pastel, which creates a cool textural component to emphasize the colors and shapes.

William's artshare blog

Mixed Media Painting

This is a video of an artist painting motion in the city. She explains step by step what she did to create the art work. She creates 3 separate pieces which she then puts the pieces side by side, and at the end creates the motion picture.

Snow Sculpting

This is an interesting video because the artists are competing, but their work is not permanent. Because the sculptures are made out of snow, they melt away shortly after their creation. The sculptures are interesting because they add something to the landscape. Also the artists only have 3 days to complete these sculptures in extremely cold conditions.

Art 2 Video

This is an art tutorial that I found on YouTube. I thought it was worth sharing because it is an interesting, different method of painting and it is very relaxing to watch this process.

Free Art portfolio

Hello All-
You may already be aware of this portfolio review opportunity on December 11th at the Concord Center for Visual Arts from Claire Lieu ( RISD ), but I thought I'd pass it along:

Also, here's a resource for students grades 9-12 to upload their work and get it critiqued.

Hope your years are going well. Good luck with Scholastics.

Ryan's Senior Mural Idea 2017

This is my idea for the mural background. The image itself isn't what I think the mural should look like, but I think it has some really good features we could incorporate into the piece. If the sun were placed the the middle of the horizon, as such, it might hit the birds in really interesting ways - such as framing them in light, sorta like halos around their bodies - and overall add to the beauty of the mural. I definitely like having the dark mountains in the mid-ground, although having the grass as colorful as at is above might add too many colors such that it would distract from the painting's main idea: the birds. It would be interesting to play with the shades of the grass, although I don't think it should vary a lot in terms of the colors used, if we do decide to incorporate it.

Caroline's artshare post

Hi mrs hom! this is for my art share posts!

I thought this video was really interesting because it shows this artists skills of drawing animals which is something I love. the paint strokes are insane it looks so much like real fur. The eye is also does with so many details.

This is something similar but also different because its of a person which at some point i would love to paint. The eyesore are also so so amazing.

This is my most recent artwork. I've been working hard on my RISD application. I've been editing a lot of my old work hoping to impress the admissions team

Jeff's artshare post- Senior mural 2017

Here's my suggestion about the background: a combination of these two images. Because the birds in the painting are moving (although this is a instantaneous image) from left bottom to right top, a diagonal leading line in background will make a better effect of movement. Meanwhile, each bird is in high contrast, which indicates that the light should basically come from one direction. Considering the aesthetic conclusion, a sunset in background will be a good choice.

Best,
Jeff
