Sand Art by Andres Amador
Andres AmadorI found it really interesting that Andres is able to put a lot of time and effort into his art but not be attached to it as he lets the ocean wash it up.

Fun photoshoot!
Over break one of my good friends approached me and asked if I would help her with a project she is doing for her senior project for graphic design. She has to make a magazine that shows the different fashions from different time periods, starting with the 60's and ending with today's fashion! We went to my studio, and I helped her with the camera settings, and we had such a fun time!! Here's some of the photos from the 60's! Twiggy-esque!

Hart Rippe's personal growth project
Term 3 Goals:
Goals:
Start working bigger (stretched canvas), work on identifying when a
piece is done and not over work it; also, work on adding more texture to
my pieces, like salt
and crumpled paper, but in a restrained way.
Reasoning,
I want to do this because I never know when to finish a piece and I
tend to keep adding to it until it's too busy. sometimes simple is more
effective.

Natalie Sikes Personal Growth Project
Goal: I'd like to start a long-term original comic with a strong storyline. To do this I'll have to learn a lot about story telling as well as artistic technique. The story I'm thinking about takes place in a fantastical world where disputes are settled within dreamscapes. It's still very much in development.
Reasoning: This is something I've always wanted to do but never had the motivation/confidence to do so. I will be learning as I go about comics, and I'll be posting them online where I will hopefully get a lot more feedback.
Here's one of the character designs I've been designing.
Influences: I'm always inspired by by the tumblr user xhxix with their beautiful pieces. I'm also inspired by the illustrator and co-author of the comic Maggot Boy (which I'm not going to link because it contains gore and violence). They started the comic years ago and is still working on it, and seeing how much they've improved is inspiring. I'll also continue finding a variety of inspirations from around me and on the internet.
Materials & Process: I'd like to use ink and watercolor as well as Photoshop to make the pages. I'd like to experiment using different amounts of traditional and digital.

The Sleepwalker!
Yesterday I went over to Wellesley College to see the infamous Sleepwalker statue! I wanted to share some photos with you!!
Also, I did a bit of research on the artist himself, his name is Tony Matelli, and while I found his website (www.tonymatelli.com) which has a large selection of his work, but his artist statement seems to be absent! But I did find that he does a lot of work like this all entitled The Sleepwalker, different genders, and different ages. He also does a lot of these hyper-realistic pieces. He uses different materials for each of his statues, some of them are bronze cast with paint, others are fiberglass with paint, and then he also uses epoxy and paint to achieve this amount of realism! If you want to go see the sculpture it is a bit inside the campus, but it is on the main road so if you drive through campus you will see it! Tony Matelli: New Gravity will be on exhibit from Feb. 5 through May 11 in the Bronfman and Chandler galleries, and Feb. 5 through July 20 in the Jobson and Tanner galleries. The exhibition is free and open to the general public. Here is an interview with the artist about this piece!

Personal Growth Project - Andrew S
For my next project i want to do a painting. i don't really work a lot with paint except in in easily controlled forms like markers but i want to learn more about blending and creating things with a brush because it seems like a lot more of a skill. I don't know whether i want to paint concrete things or abstractly but it will probably be abstract.

For my personal growth project I would like to create a
collage because throughout the past years of doing art, this is something I
have always wanted to do but never had time to do one. I have many vogue
magazines at my house, so I would like to incorporate pictures and brands
together. Also I want in use different colors and kinds of paper such as rice
or thin paper and cardboard for the thickness. In creating a collage, I would
like to make it a mixed media project. Therefore I will imbed different colors
and sizes of strings which will try to create a central flow. I am not tots set
on the idea of using India ink for this particular project, but that is
something I am still pondering upon. I want to use the idea of the melted wax
from my previous projects from last year and also jel medium for the shiny
textured look. I am looking forward to creating this piece on a much larger
scale because I want to have a lot of different ideals and details within
piece.

Personal Growth Project: Mark Garron
The majority of my artwork in this class, as well as previous art classes, has been prominently abstract work. And most of the time, it has been penwork. So, for my personal growth project, I have been thinking about breaking away from that, and trying a detailed self portrait. I am not quite sure what all the materials that I would make use of are yet, but the foundation and majority of the self portrait would probably be charcoal. I was also consider somehow incorporating rain into the portrait. So, in other words, I am thinking about attempting a more realistic, heavily detailed self portrait, because I have less expierience working on that type of thing.
Hello!
Hello Fellow artists!!
It's my first time posting, and I am excited to be a part of the blog now! I am big into documenting progress in photos, as well as looking for inspiration online! I have a Pinterest page that I update quite frequently. I also try to remember things that you guys are doing in class and look for solutions to your problems, or "artist's block :)" Pinterest is a great resource for artists, just go into the search area and plug in what ever you are working on to get many great results by both working artists, as well as student work! Here's my page, and like I said, I try to add pins that reflect what you guys are working on as a class :) a-life-lived-for-art-is-never-a-life-wasted Pinterest Page
Also, I know I have talked about my Photography if you guys are interested to see what I am working on, or some of my work you can go to either Madison Weber Photography Page , or my other page that has all the shoots I've done professionally, and a larger collection of my photos you can go here My Shutterfly Collection. I can't wait to get to know you guys more as artists, and learn about what inspires you! If you have any questions for me, you can email me at madisonweberphotography@yahoo.com :)

Personal Growth Project Proposal
My goal is to create a collage in either black and white or to pick different shades of one color to use throughout the piece. I'd like to focus on the shading of these pieces, because recently I've been doing a lot of abstract or interpretive paintings and so i would like to work with a different medium and be more detailed in my art. I liked the idea of using cut or ripped paper from magazines or newspaper in order to create the shading. I created a board on pintrest that has some inspiration for my collage, with black and white newspaper collages as well as ones with color

□ Goal-Set a personal growth for yourself- new technique to try out and explore, trying something new that might be challenging, breaking out of your comfort zone.
I specialize in Origami tesselation, but I want to broaden expand into more animal based Origami. This is going to be challenging because I am use to working with a grid system.
I also want to work oil based paints, and printmaking.
□ Reasoning: why do you want to do this/ why does this project make sense for you?
Origami animals is like sketching. I am trying to bring something three dimensional onto paper. I will have to challenge myself to make it as realistic as possible.
I have never worked with oil, so I want to try this median.
I want to try printmaking because I want to see how shading can be created with just simple lines and curves.
□ Create a visual art journal to sketch your project ideas. Prepare your inspiration boards. Post either on a blog or website.
□ What artist, subject, theme, influences this way of working?
Brian Chan, Adam Sara, Eric Gjerde, Paul Jackson, Eric Joisel, Michael LaFosse, Richard Alexander
□ What materials and processes will you experiment with?
Paper, oil, canvas, wood
Personal Growth Project
For my personal growth project, I would like to explore painting. I have had little experience with painting and feel as though I would enjoy the medium. For the personal growth, I want to create two pieces one of a setup that is more realistic, and another large-scale abstract painting. I will probably use a canvas and acrylic paint. Maybe in the abstract piece I will add other materials to it and paint over it to add texture.

Goals: my goal for this project is to be able to draw something that looks exactly like how one would see it. most of the time I make something that resembles the figure i’m drawing but doesn't look exactly like it, changing little things here and there to make it more of an interesting process for myself. Basically I want to hone my painting skills.
Reasoning: my painting skills are not on par with my drawing skills and seeing as I tend to work a lot with incorporating watercolor into my sketches it seems like something that I really need to work on.
Subject: Mrs.Hom and I talked about painting the skeleton in the art room seeing as he can be posed in many interesting ways. I am still in the process of choosing whether or not to incorporate color into the painting because if I choose to just stick with black and white then sumi ink might be a better choice.
Material: I will be working mostly with watercolor and pens, maybe i will move into working with acrylics but so far i’m more interested in watercolor.
art4 project proposal - Hillary
I would love my next project to be a palette knife painting either with acrylics or oil paint. I think with palette knives, it is a bit more spontaneous than using a brush and there's less of a focus on making it look "perfect." Usually I am very detail oriented when it comes to painting. I think it would be challenging for me to limit myself to only using a palette knife. I recently found a old paintings in my basement that my dad got a while ago and I could tell by the quick strokes that they used a palette knife and it inspired me to want to do one as well. I am thinking of doing a landscape painting or nature. I like the styles of cezanne and monet.
I also reblogged inspirations on

Personal Growth Project: Anne Harding
For my personal growth project I would like to paint a landscape on a larger scale. I would either like to use water color or acrylics. I have been practicing mountains and trees in my sketchbooks and free time so I would like to expand on that. I would like to use some Chinese landscapes in this painting. I have never done anything with an Asian twist in it before so I think it would be fun to do something along those lines. I have always loved nature especially trees so I would like to have plant life in my personal growth project. I usually work on smaller canvases am I not used to working on a larger scale, so I would like to come out of my comfort zone.
